![]() ![]() One last note: you’ll typically find serranos next to jalapenos in the produce section, but if your local markets don’t carry them you can substitute jalapenos for the serranos and you’ll get a similar result. But it really shines when used generously in breakfast burritos, or gooped on top of burritos, or smothering pork carnitas. Sure, it does well next to a bowl of chips. Having this sauce on standby in your kitchen is a gamechanger. (Note: if you are sensitive to spicy foods then you can start by adding 1/4 of the serrano and taste-testing.)Īnd that’s it! You just made the second most popular sauce in the history of Mexican cooking in less than 20 minutes. Not enough? Keep adding serrano until it tastes right to you. So I always recommend adding heat incrementally the first few times you make this sauce. Why only half of the serrano? Because only you know your preferred heat level. You could also use a molcajete to make the salsa. Into the blender they go along with ½ onion, garlic, cilantro (using the stems in Mexico is the norm), and only 1/2 of the serrano pepper. In about 10-15 minutes they’ll start to turn army green, that means they’re done: (Out latest post shows other roasting methods you can use to make this Salsa.) Roasting the tomatillos will lower the acidity and concentrate the flavors, so we’ll put them in the oven at 400F. OK, got 4 tomatillos handy? Pull the husks off, give them a good rinse, and cut out the stems.ġ serrano pepper, de-stemmed and cut in half 5 Tomatillos 1/4 - 1/2 bunch fresh Cilantro finely chopped 2 Cloves of Garlic 1/4 Onion Jalapenos 1-3 depending on how spicy you want it Salt to taste. And don’t worry about roasting tomatillos out of the can, it doesn’t have the same effect as roasting fresh tomatillos. Yes, it’ll be a slight step down in quality, but the results are still far superior than using storebought salsa. Note: If you’re in an area where fresh tomatillos are hard to come by, you can always use canned tomatillos. If they are pale or mushy they are past their prime. If you’re new to tomatillos, pull open the husk at the grocery store and buy the ones that are taut and greenish on the inside. Most supermarkets these days have a basket of tomatillostucked away in the produce section. Otherwise known as Tomatillo-Serrano sauce, or Salsa Verde, or Mexico’s #2 salsa.Ī homemade green sauce can transform eggs, slow cooker carnitas, and enchiladas into something otherworldly– so getting good at whipping up this beauty opens up loads of instant possibilities. ![]() ![]() She’s always great in every role she’s in and she’s just as great here as she plays nurse and brief love interest to Matt. Rosario Dawson ended up being the Nick Fury of the Netflix Marvel shows as she popped up in every series at least once with the exception of The Punisher. Rounding out the supporting cast for the first season is Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Scott Glenn as Stick. Eventually, they come to terms with Matt’s nightlife without being in favor of it, which I felt was very realistic. The best part about Karen and Foggy eventually learning about Matt’s secret is that they were opposed to Matt’s vigilante activities for different reasons, but never seemed like wet blankets or whiny. Elden Henson, who played Foggy Nelson, went from one of the Mighty Ducks to Matt’s friend and business partner, then reluctant sidekick. Deborah Ann Woll was amazing as Karen Page who was more than Matt’s love interest in that she had her own character arc that ended up stretching throughout the entire series as we gradually got to know more and more of her backstory (more on that in a latter part). Of course, a charming lead is nothing if he doesn’t have a great supporting cast to play off of. Since season 1 launched, it seems there were always rumors that his Daredevil would show up in a MCU movie and while I doubt that will happen, I’d love to see it. He managed to make himself believable as a New York native despite not being from the US and what’s more, he managed to be believable as a blind man which is something few actors can manage. ![]() Anyway, Charlie Cox looks just like Matt, has the swagger that lets you know he could bed Black Widow, has the gravitas that comes along with a choir boy being conflicted about beating bad guys to a pulp, and has the build that makes it believable he can do a spinning hook kick into someone’s face without a problem. I mean, I know a similar costume was used in the “Man Without Fear” comic miniseries from the 90’s, but even that one came after Rex Smith’s all-black number. It’s not exactly a contest, although one can’t help but to think that the Rex Smith version who appeared in ”Trial of the Incredible Hulk” had some influence on the initial costume that would eventually appear in the Netflix series. Granted, the only people in live action to play this character previously have been Ben Affleck, Rex Smith, whoever was in costume during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades in 19, and (kinda-sorta) Terry O’Neil. Okay, fanboy orgasm aside, it really was good.Ĭharlie Cox embodied Daredevil and Matt Murdock in a way, no one else did. EVER! Was that too much? It probably was. So let’s get this out of the way: not only was Daredevil season 1 the best Netflix Marvel season, it was the best season of any TV show based on a comicbook. ![]() ![]() ![]() As the years went by, the market would slowly shift to having gunsmiths and garage Dremel tool artist grinding the same grooves off in favor of the freedom to better grip the gun depending on hand size. The Gen 3 and 4 Glocks as well as MOS series would all see integrated molded finger grooves. One of the biggest trends in the market when the original Glock models came to the United States was adding aftermarket grips such as Pachmayr grips to their handguns to provide finger grooves on their guns. This would be a great sign of how the shooting industry dictates design. First, let’s talk about the obvious – the lack of finger grooves, reminiscent of the Gen 1 Glocks. With that being said, let’s look at what’s been said already and what may have been missed in those “flash” reports on the new Glocks. To say I am familiar with the Glock platform is an understatement, so I feel confident in being qualified giving my opinion on the subject matter. I have served as a former SWAT operator and I have been a certified NRA Firearms Instructor since 1997. I have been a certified Glock Armorer since 2002 and carried a Glock for personal protection. To start off, I have been shooting Glocks since the early 90’s. While both models of the Gen 5 pistols were in our possession for testing immediately after release, it was decided to do a long term look at them to provide a better opinion for our readers. This would not sit right in my opinion and felt it gave a great disservice for both manufacturer and shooters equally. Within days, tons of online “experts” either praised or criticized the Gen 5, mostly based on nothing more than slight noticeable cosmetics. Folks, when you can gain sales that way, you have accomplished more power in the market that a manufacturer can ever dream! Only Colt Manufacturing has ever really seen such success in their endeavors. While these may have translated to the civilian Gen 5 series, I do think overall shooter input had a factor in each of the design changes as well.Īs with any Glock changes, this came with a huge wave of fanfare and large sales despite most buyers not being able to properly articulate what was so different and special about the new series. These contract guns were announced to have a few small variations to fit specific contract requirements without going into very much detail. This came on the heels of Glock landing major new Federal Law Enforcement and Military contracts over the winter and spring months for both the model 17 and 19 alike. This past August, Glock surprised a lot of people with the introduction of what they officially title the Gen 5 series pistols consisting of new versions of the Glock Gen 5 Model 17 and Glock Gen 5 Model 19 chambered in 9mm. Given their success with so few changes, this would elude to the conclusion that Glock pretty much got it right on the first try. Until recently however, there have only been three major design changes or “generations” since the original, straight grip, two pin frame hit the market. This has been the case since the mid-1980s when Gaston Glock’s first pistols arrived on US soil. Despite it’s’ Austrian origins, Glock has become America’s handgun of choice due to its relatively affordable cost, ultra-simplistic design, impressive accuracy and ridiculous level of high reliability. Over 80% of all Law Enforcement agencies in the nation carry some model variation of the Glock pistol. Whether you consider yourself a 1911 guy, diehard SIG shooter or Colt collector, the numbers don’t lie. But as mentioned above, it is a "special edition", which means limited availability.įor more information about the G17 Gen5 Coyote please visit the GLOCK website.Fact: Glock firearms are without a doubt, the most popular and bestselling handguns of our time.
